3.1 Interviews
In order to ensure that the national park planning process is accessible to everyone, I deliberately included a higher proportion of participants who had little or no experience in planning their national park trips. Through interviews, I discovered that people often perceive national parks as wild and unpredictable, and lack confidence in their ability to handle unexpected situations during their trip. As a result, they find the planning process overwhelming, which makes them more likely to abandon their travel plans altogether. In addition, some express the expectation of having all the elements in one place, or a place where every trip mates could plan together.

3.2 User Journey
Following the interviews, I analyzed the national park planning process, breaking it down into 6 phases to identify pain points in each stage. Interestingly, I observed a 'U-Shape' curve in participants' moods throughout the planning process. While the topics remained similar from phase 02 to phase 04, negative experiences were most pronounced at this section throughout the entire process.

3.3 Pain points & Opportunities
Based on the pain points identified during the planning stage, two primary needs have been identified:
-
Real-time access to park information: Users require up-to-date information about the park throughout the planning stage to make informed decisions.
-
Centralized platform for planning and communication: Users need a unified space where they can store their planning information and have the ability to communicate in real-time.

Based on the findings, I have made the decision to center the project around the development of a trip planning dashboard. This dashboard will be designed to meet the users' requirements for real-time information and improved collaboration.
By focusing on these key elements, the project aims to address the identified needs and provide users with a user-friendly and efficient trip planning dashboard that empowers them with the necessary tools for a successful national park visit.
